15-yrs-old ‎wins UBA Foundation N1m education grant

Miss Emediong Uduak Uko, 15, from the British Nigerian Academy, Abuja has won the coveted prize of N1m education grant from the United Bank of Africa, UBA.
Emediong who beat ‎over 3,326 contestants in the National Essay Competitions to eme‎rge the overall best said though she has flair for writing, she however aspires to be a medical doctor because she is good at sciences
.

‎Miss Starish Ugie-Oritse-Ete Enonuya of The Lagoon School, Lagos and Eze Ugochinyere from the Golden of Living Word Academy School, Abia, emerged first and second runner ups, winning N750,000 and N500,000 educational grants respectively.
Speaking during the unveiling of the winners held at UBA corporate head office, Marina, Lagos, its Group Managing Director, Mr. Phillips Oduoza, lauded the twelve finalists describing all as winners. ‎He presented a laptop as a consolation prize to each twelve finalists.
He said: “Reading is essential to broaden your knowledge and most importantly youths should maintain self-discipline
“The competition which started in 2011 in Nigeria had also be extended to Ghana and Senegal which had also produced winners in the last few years.
“UBA Foundation believes in sustainability and in supporting of the environment where we operate, and that is why we have earmarked a certain percentage of our profit to this end.”
He vowed that the bank will remains committed to dedicating resources towards grooming world leaders, stressing that UBA believes so much in the youth and their ultimate success.
